| The IOS Au01 is a liquid metal ion source designed for operation with the IOG 25Au Liquid Metal Ion Gun, to provide a source of gold and germanium ions. For IOG 25Ga liquid metal gallium systems, a conversion package is available to enable operation with the gold alloy source. | ||||||||||||||||
| The source is an alloy, and the main constituents of the ions produced are: | ||||||||||||||||

| The exact composition of the beam can vary and these figures should be taken as approximate guidelines. The source requires similar operating conditions to a standard gallium source, except that it requires a continuous heater current. Vacuum in the source chamber must be 1e-8 or better. To utilise this source fully, the ion column needs to be capable of mass filtering the ion beam. The IOG 25Au liquid metal ion gun is available with a Wien filter or a double pulsing mass filter. |
